The SitRepNet Project
★★★ Add @SITREP to your Groups ★★★
The @SITREP group designation is for unaffiliated SitRep reports and related information sharing. Organized net groups, such as AmRRON, MAGNET, PrepperNet, etc., do some great things, and we encourage you to participate in them, but open, decentralized sharing of information among individuals and small local groups is at least as important. Add @SITREP to your “Groups” to help make that happen.
HF Digital Net Database
A primary part of this project is building and maintaining a database of all current HF digital mode nets.

Some things we hope to see happen
We can’t “make” any of this happen. All we can do is put forth ideas, explain the benefits, what needs to happen to accomplish those ideas, and then do what we can to facilitate that. It is the people in leadership positions in the nets, and the unaffiliated ham community that have to make it happen.
- Establish the @SITREP group name to designate unaffiliated traffic and information sharing.
- Leverage the powerful automation features of JS8Call, JS8Spotter, and CommStatOne for decentralized, unaffiliated information sharing.
- Conduct surveys of HF digital net users, and then share the results of those surveys.
- What ideas do YOU have? This is a shared project, so please use the Contact form to let us know your ideas.
None of this can be done by any single group – it has to be something that all (or nearly all) agree on. It will require a view of amateur radio as a whole rather than focusing on specific groups.
We have no doubt that this can be done. The world has seen, time after time, the amateur radio community come to the aid of those in need during emergencies. The SitRepNet project is just a way to bring together all those separate efforts for the mutual benefit of all.
What this is not
- This is not an effort to impose changes in the way any group or net currently does things.
- This is not about creating a new group
- It’s about facilitating the unaffiliated and decentralized sharing of information.
- It’s about getting existing groups to work together.
